The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming
Remember that movie, The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming? And in that case they ended up in a submarine grounded on a sandbar off the New England coast during the cold war. They eventually came ashore and reeked just about as much fictional havoc as did the Russian lawyer in reality that Donald Trump Jr. met with at Trump Tower. Her name was Natalia Veselnitskaya and the meeting was set up by Robert Goldstone, another Russian who coincidentally checked into the Tower the same day as the meeting. At first the kid tried to schluff off the cozy get-together on a human-rights issue in the Soviet Union, then changed his statement.
Trump Tower in Moscow
Okay, let’s back up to where this whole thing started unraveling. According to the Washington Post, there was a, “… Russian family that has ties to the Kremlin and a history of pursuing business deals with President Trump — including preliminary plans for a Trump Tower in Moscow.” But Trump Sr. has said all along that he has no connections to Russia. Most, of course, knew he was lying, as usual, and everything came to a head when Trump Jr. who first denied any dealings with the Soviet Union, now admits to this meeting with Natalia Veselnitskaya. And it should also be noted that ‘lately in the background’ Jared Kushner was at the meeting.
Fascinating interview with Natalia Veselnitskaya…
Complete timeline of Russian debacle events
If you are really interested in following the action of this Russian debacle, WP has done an excellent job of creating a timeline along with graphics that really illustrate the process well.
Here’s Trump Jr.’s description of the meeting…
- “Trump Jr. said that Veselnitskaya failed to deliver and that ‘it quickly became clear that she had no meaningful information.’ But his participation on those terms, as well as the attendance of Kushner and then-Trump campaign aide Paul Manafort, amount to fresh evidence that the Trump campaign was willing to consider accepting help from a Russian source tarnishing Clinton.”
CNN offers its version of the intrigue showing…
- “…the future President Donald Trump attending a dinner with an Azerbaijani-Russian family [Aras Agalarov] who became Trump’s business partners in Las Vegas in June 2013. It also shows their publicist, Rob Goldstone, who would later send Donald Trump Jr. the emails that have brought the eldest Trump son to the center of the controversy over possible collusion between Trump campaign associates and Russia.”
It’s all about the Trump brand
Goldstone did talk to Trump Sr. during the meeting, at which time he conveyed to the Americans that he had damaging information against Hillary Clinton. It was at this point that Goldstone made the offer to set up a meeting between Trump Jr. and the Russians. It was Aras Agalarov and Emin Agalarov that participated in the multi-million dollar deal that brought Trump’s Miss Universe pageant to Moscow in 2013. If you carefully analyze all the dirty dealings that have involved Donald Trump in both his presidential campaign and after entering the Oval Office, you will see that it is all deliberately focused on promoting the Trump brand.
Trump Jr. loves the dirt on Hillary Clinton
So,with definitive proof of Donald Trump Sr. and Jr. connections with Russia, we also know that Rob Goldstone informed Junior by email that he had a Russian contact that would be willing to produce evidence that “…“would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father. This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump.” Number one, it’s clear that the kid knew what he was getting and, two, that Russia was interested in helping Donald Trump’s candidacy for president. And Donald Trump Jr.’s response to Goldstone…
“If it’s what you say I love it especially later in the summer.” [of 2016]
