Sunday Political Roundup

Capitalism down-Democratic Socialism up

Just how bad is the state of capitalism? Holly Wood, on the Medium, says it doesn’t have a plan and goes in only one direction; not caring what the average person wants. She comments, “Capitalism is a system that we can prove with any science is fucking the planet and yet the rich can convince most this is progress.” BINGO!  The more that suffer, the better it is, especially considering the Senate healthcare plan that will cause us to “die long, drawn-out, painful deaths from preventable diseases because managing slow, painful death is a hugely profitable enterprise employing tens of thousands of people.” And that’s why we turn to Socialism.

States and Corporations snub nose at Trump on Paris Agreement

Donald Trump may have exited the Paris Agreement but 30 states and a flock of U.S. corporations have decided they will not be deterred in their quest for “…climate policies and pursue lower greenhouse gas emissions.” They threw this in the face of T-rump in answer to his Rose Garden announcement. New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D) was one of the first to announce N.Y.’s $1.65 billion investment in “…renewable energy and energy efficiency…” Trump claimed his actions were in defense of American workers and the economy but states and corporations were quick to contradict him. Tesla and Disney CEOs resigned from “…the president’s advisory council after the announcement.”

Donald Trump impeachment finally introduced in House

Well, it had to come and it finally did with Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.) officially introducing an article of impeachment against President Trump. Apparently the escapades of Trump Jr. weighed in Sherman’s decision, coming only a day after Junior released emails about his meetings with the Russians. It will never get anywhere in the Republican House but at least the Dems are on record. The congressman added to his decision the firing of James Comey, FBI director,  which he claims, “…amounts to obstructing justice and ‘high crimes and misdemeanors.'” Many Democrats think the move premature and won’t sign on.

Trump administration wants our personal voting data

Donald Trump wants the personal voter files of every registered voter in the U.S. and has commissioned Kansas Sec. of State, Kris Kobach, to get it. He’s the bigot that formulated Arizona’s failed immigration bill, SB1070, so why would any state trust him with its voter files? Many  have refused the request which includes party affiliation, date of birth, last four digits of social security number, and more. I would rather see a hacker with my personal data than this Trump stooge; it would be safer. And guess what, a significant number of names this dufus wants to purge in his quest for “voter quality” are Hispanics and blacks. GOP will do anything to suppress Democrats’ votes.

Mysterious Russian lawyer and Donald Trump Jr.

Natalia Veselnitskaya, the Russian attorney that met with Donald Trump Jr. at Trump Tower, was admitted to the United States by the Justice Department under “extraordinary circumstances.” But it was under the Obama administration. While in Washington, “… Veselnitskaya also attended a dinner with the chairman of the House subcommittee overseeing Russia policy, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) and roughly 20 other guests at a dinner club frequented by Republicans.” Although there is speculation the visit was primarily about the Magnitsky Act, a cloud remains over the entire episode that hasn’t been explained by either side.
